Interior lighting

Interior lighting

Interior lighting in the work car is the icing on the cake. Even though transport vehicles today are starting to get better lighting in the cargo space, it is still substandard even if you choose an original lighting package. By installing extra interior lighting, you ensure that you’ll always find your products and tools even during the darker days of the year.

What should I keep in mind when choosing interior lighting?

It depends on what your needs are. If you have a transport car that is up to two meters, you get an ok light with one light. But for best results, two should be used. To get good lighting in the car, you can count on one luminaire per 2-meter cargo space. If, on the other hand, you want really good lighting, you can have one luminaire per meter as a reference.

Some things to keep in mind when placing your lights:

The placement is also important to get a good light. First, the light should not dazzle you, but you should not shade the light either. The ceiling is a good place to place the lighting to avoid that it dazzles you. If you have several light sources, place these next to the doors so you do not get the light cone in front of you. In addition, you will also get some light outside of the car. If you have several side doors, we recommend putting one next to each door as the interior often obscures the light if it goes past the door. If you have drawers that you want to illuminate, it can be a good idea to place a strip over the drawer so that the light can reach down into the drawers. If you want additional lighting, you can place the lighting under the shelfs to illuminate the shelf underneath.

How should the lighting be switched on?

There are different ways to turn on the lights to meet different needs. The most common way is that the lights switch on when the door is opened. This can be done with up to 2 luminaires and after that relay control may be required. Contact us and we will answer if it is needed for your car. The disadvantage of connecting the lighting to the doors is that you cannot control when they go out if the car doors are open for a longer time, this is handled entirely by the car's original system. Often the light goes out within 5-10 minutes of opening the doors. Of course, the light goes out when the doors are closed.

Another option is to install a light timer. Then you activate the light via a switch and the lighting is on until you turn it off again or, if you do not turn it off yourself, through a timer that you can program as desired.

If you work in your car for longer periods, we recommend using a control system for the lighting. This also includes a built-in battery monitor and an adjustable timer. This way you can set the lighting from anywhere between 10 minutes and no time. The control system then switches off the lighting when the battery voltage becomes low. You can also use the car's door signals and turn the keypad on and off. Through a control system there are many possibilities, and it is important to describe which function or functions that should be configured. This unit can also control other functions, there are a total of five button-controlled functions plus the interior control and an extra 12V output. All are monitored by the battery monitor.

It is also possible to switch the lighting on via an on/off switch. The disadvantage of this option is that if you forget the light, there is a great risk of running out of battery in the car. Therefore, this is no solution that we recommend, but if it is desired, we will solve it. If you are going to connect it yourself, do not forget to secure the wiring to the battery.
