Inverter & Converter

To minimize hours that can be lost during a workday or everyday life, it is good to have an inverter in the car if you rely on a charged battery. An inverter is advantageously used in your transport vehicle to power 230V electrical products.

Inverters, converters, and sometimes even transformers are all words for the same thing: A device that converts a battery's direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC). Work Systems' inverters have a pure sine wave which means less risk of damage to sensitive electronics. This allows you to use your inverter for many of the tools you have in the car such as a computer, drill, etc. With a pure sine wave in your inverter, efficiency also increases compared to a modified sine wave. If you're unsure which converter you need or can't find what you're looking for, we help you find the right products and customization for your needs.

More about inverters and power converters
An inverter is an invaluable component for anyone using their service vehicle as a mobile workplace. This type of power converter makes it possible to convert the vehicle's 12V DC to standardized 230V AC, which means you can use regular household appliances and tools directly from the vehicle. For professional craftsmen working in locations without access to the power grid, such a solution is crucial for work capabilities. Inverters can also be called converters, power converters, conversion devices, and transformers.

An inverter/transformer works by converting the DC produced by the vehicle's battery and generator into the AC that most electrical tools and appliances require. This conversion process occurs through advanced electronics that ensure stable voltage and frequency. A 12V to 230V converter must be properly sized to handle the load you plan to connect, and it's important to choose a converter with sufficient power for your specific needs.
When choosing an inverter/transformer, you should first map out which tools and appliances you need to power. A basic 12V to 230V converter may be sufficient for charging smaller tools and lighting, while more demanding use may require a more powerful voltage converter. Keep in mind that some tools draw significantly more current at startup than during normal operation, which affects the sizing of your 12V voltage converter.

Installation of an inverter/transformer requires careful planning of both power supply and security systems. We recommend using separate fuses and switches to protect both the vehicle's electrical system and the connected equipment. Cable gauge and connections must be sized for the current the voltage converter will handle, and good ventilation is crucial to avoid overheating.

The safety aspect is central when working with power conversion in vehicles. A quality inverter/transformer has built-in safety features such as over and under voltage protection, short-circuit protection, and temperature monitoring. This protects both your equipment and the vehicle's electrical system from damage.

For optimal performance, you should also consider supplementing your setup with an extra battery or battery pack. This ensures that the vehicle's starter battery does not discharge when using the inverter/transformer for extended periods, which is particularly important when working in locations where you cannot run the engine continuously.
